ABOUT OUR NAME

It’s commonly thought our school was named after the famous English nursery rhyme. You know the one:

Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker’s man,
Bake me a cake as fast as you can.
Roll it, pat it and mark it with B,
Put it in the oven for baby and me.

We certainly had it in mind. After all, it’s a celebration of childhood and play. But our school was named, first and foremost, after a remarkable woman named Pat Mrisch. Pat was passionate about her work as a family court judge. She was a huge and effective proponent of children of all ages, giving them a voice and protecting their vulnerability. Despite Pat’s passing in 2006, her legacy will live on forever.
